WEEK OF March 28:

Saint Viator (2-2) won 4-0 over Marian Catholic on a pair of goals from Taylor Skala and one apiece from Erin Renee Murphy and Chloe Lutheringhausen, and assists from Katelyn Hammarlund and Katherine Petrovich.

Geneva (2-1-1) traveled to Belleville and went 1-1 against Belleville Althoff and Belleville West on Friday and Saturday, winning 2-1 over defending 2A state champion Belleville Alhoff on Friday with goals coming from Michaela Loebel and Caitrin Griffin on an Amanda Lulek assist. The Vikings lost 2-0 on Saturday to Belleville West. Geneva coach Megan Owens: "On Friday we connected well and dominated most of the game. On Saturday we struggled on very poor field conditions. We had an off day and we played a little sleepy."

Oswego East (2-2) went 1-1 with a 2-0 win over Rosary on Saturday and a 3-1 loss to York on Tuesday. Katie Ross scored the goal against York on a Carli Schlaker assist while Hannah Gargrave had 9 saves in the loss. Megan Ross and Sam Lee tallied in the win over Rosary, with Gargrave making 6 saves in the game.

Plainfield South (4-2-1) went 2-0 at the Hoffman Estate tournament over the weekend, winning 2-0 over Hoffman Estates and 4-0 over Belvidere North. Kelsey Pruett had 2 goals while Alex Truhlar and Alex Goff assited on a goal each in the win over Hoffman, while Taylor Schwebke recorded 7 saves in the shutout. Against Belvidere North, Kailyn Haski scored twice and South got goals from Danni Dame and Caitlyn Coneset. Pruett had two assists and Rachel Sutphin and Alex Truhlar had one apiece, with Schwebke recording 7 saves in the shutout. Pruett, Schwebke, Truhlar, and Dame were all named to the all-tournament team.

Elk Grove (4-1) won 5-0 over Wheeling in an MSL matchup in Wheeling on Friday, and then won 2-0 over Cary-Grove on Saturday to earn its third shutout of the season. Friday's win upped the Grens' conference record to 1-1. Michelle Calmeyn scored four goals in the win while the Grens got a goal and two assists from Katie Naughton, two assists from Carin Fearing, and one from Rachel Pruim. Melissa Solorio was in net for the shutout.

A Calmeyn penalty kick and a Naughton goal on a Nikki Zaino assist provided the scoring in Saturday's home win over Cary-Grove, with Solorio again earning the shutout.

Plainfield North (5-0-1) traveled to Wheaton North (3-2) on Friday and earned a 2-1 victory on goals from Ashley Auble and Ashley Handwork, and two assists from Callie O'Donnell. Tiffany Traxinger tallied for Wheaton North.

Plainfield North won 4-0 over West Aurora on Saturday with two goals coming from O'Donnell and one apiece from Katie Cox and Shayna Dheel. Dheel, Handwork, and Kaela Leskovar all had assists on the day while Paige Polonus and Emily Brodict combined in net for the shutout.

West Chicago (5-2-1) tied 2-2 with Hampshire on Friday, getting a goal and an assist from Jenny Amaro and a goal from Andie Lazzerini, and then placed third in this year's South Elgin tournament with a 4-1 win over the host team. Meagan Radloff scored twice in the win, while Amaro and Lazzerini each struck twice for the Wildcats.

Neuqua Valley (4-0) got three goals from Zoey Goralski Thursday and one apiece from Alexa Wilde, Gianna Dal Pozzo, and Meghan Kelley in a 6-0 win over Hinsdale Central (2-3) in second-round play of the Downers Grove South tournament in Hinsdale. Oak Park and River Forest (4-1) won 5-0 over University High with Katy Oldach earning the shutout in net. Emily Gullo had two goals and an assist in the win, Sarah McCall had a goal and two assists, and the Huskies also got goals from Tess Trinka and Alex Hammond, while Kate McCole chipped in an assist in Oak Park.

Downers Grove South (5-0-1) won 5-0 over Lincoln-Way Central in second-round action of the DGSouth tournament, played at Hinsdale Central on Thursday. Cara Doogan scored twice and the Mustangs got goals from Megan Martin, Stephanie Zurales, and Jess Bronke in posting their third shutout of the year.

Metea Valley (6-1-1) won 2-1 over St. Francis (4-4-1) in the third-place game of the St. Francis Springfest Classic on Wednesday. The Mustangs went up 1-0 on a Kristina Tomaras goal off a Jenna Kentgen assist in the second half before the Spartans tied the game in the 66th minute. Kentgen played the hero with just 30 seconds left in regulation, scoring an unassisted goal for the win. Metea keeper Megan Geldernick had four saves in the victory.

The Mustangs won 1-0 over Marian Central on Tuesday, getting a goal from Alyssa Fox on assists credited to Kentgen and Tyler Proszowski in the second half. Geldernick posted 3 saves in the win.

Glenbard West (2-3-2) won 3-1 over Marian Central on Wednesday, getting a hat-trick from Lauren Davis and two assists from Molly Abromitis to finish 2-2-1 in the inaugural St. Francis Springfest Classic. "Lauren is probably the most fit player on our team so we like to use her as an outside midfielder," Hilltoppers coach Maciek Kusmierz said. "But she can also play up top and that's where we used her today. She had an excellent game." The Hilltoppers also won 4-0 over Maine West on Tuesday on two goals by Davis and a goal apiece from Abbie Ohrnstein and Kaitlin Moore.

Conant (4-0) won 10-0 over Hoffman Estates on Wednesday, with Courtney Raetzman and Sammi van de Linde leading the scoring with two goals apiece in an MSL opener. Lindsay Fillingim posted the shutout in net.

Jacobs (6-2) went 1-1 on Tuesday, winning 3-1 over Addison Trail before losing 3-1 to Benet. Shannon Grady, Melanie Duda, and Catie Sherman scored against Addison Trail, with two assists coming from Lauren Grady and one from Marge Rivera. Keeper Monica Orjuela had one save in the win. Against Benet, Lauren Grady scored off a Rivera assist while Orjuela made 8 saves in the loss. A 5-0 win over Andrew on Saturday featured two goals apiece from Cassidy Sherman and Mel Duda, two assists from Lauren Grady, and a goal apiece from Shannon Grady and Lizzie Travis. Monica Orjuela made 4 saves in the win.

Bartlett (4-1-1) won 2-0 over West Chicago (2-2) in opening-round action of the South Elgin tournament on Tuesday, getting goals from Nicki Noreen and Trish Donlon, with keeper Natalia Grodzki posting 2 saves in net to get the shutout. West Chicago coach Cesar Gomez: “Bartlett is big, strong, and physical and we still struggle with that. But we’re working on that and our kids did a good job. We were missing our sweeper, Shelly (Molskow) and had to move some players around, and we were happy the way we ended up. We had possession and chances but Bartlett kept pounding us. We’re still learning and I’m happy with the direction the girls are heading."

Bartlett followed the win over WEGO with a 1-0 victory against Hampshire thanks to an Amanda Zindel goal on an assists from Jess Cosentino. Grodzki had one save in net in the Hawks' third shutout of the year.  Bartlett coach Heather Thomas: "We did a really good job possessing the ball and creating opportunities, unfortunately we just couldn't finish them."

Lockport (2-1) won 6-0 over Downers Grove North on Tuesday, getting a goal and an assist from Lexi Cozzi and goals forthcoming from  Sam Spencer, Julie Divita, Allyson Hansen, and Kelly Wetherald -- all of whom scored their first goals of the year.  Frannie Vargas also scored for the Porters and Jenny Meyer earned the shutout with 5 saves.

St. Charles North improved to 2-0 with an 8-0 win over visiting Elgin on Tuesday, with Sophie Pohl leading the scoring with 2 goals and 2 assists on the day. Alex Gage, Sammy Gage, KK Barr, Kelly Manski, Lauren Koehl, and Shannon Lee.

Plainfield North (2-0-1) won 7-0 over Downers Grove North on Monday, at Doerhoefer Park in Downers Grove. Callie O'Donnell had 3 goals and an assist, Ashley Handwork had a pair of goals and 3 assists, and Ashley Auble scored once and dished out two assists.

Crystal Lake South (2-3-1) tied 1-1 with Hampshire in South Elgin tournament play on Monday, getting a second-half goal from Kali Loescher on assists from Christina Szocka and Emily Hamrick. The Gators' Elizabeth Quinn had one save in the contest while Hampshire keeper Alex Dumoulin made 13 saves.

After tying 0-0 with Bartlett on Friday, the Gators finished tournament play in fifth place thanks to a 1-0 win over Dundee-Crown (2-5). Alex Romano's second half goal came on a Kali Loescher assist and Elizabeth Quinn made 1 save in South's second consecutive shutout.
